Use different repository

Hi everyone,
My first question is what are the files whose extensions are .bin in the alf_data,
and the second one , I want to use different place as a repository , for this I changed dir.root but nothing changed , or I can't see ? I deployed something from alfresco share interface and explorer interface, but new repository is empty ? Thanks for helping

Those files are your content.

Dir.root is the root of.where alfresco stores its data.
