Usage statistics?

Hi all:

Management is asking me for more details about the usage of our Alfresco instance. They want to know things like how many "active" users, how many "active" sites, the most-used sites, etc. 

So, any thoughts on how to get this info out of the system? Am I right that the primary source of that data is the Apache logs, given that we don't have auditing turned on?  (We do have AWStats running on the machine already.)

I'd also appreciate any other thoughts on definitions of what "active" users/sites mean, or how to extract that. Any other tips re. useful sorts of usage data that might be worth extracting would also be great. What does your management like seeing?

Any other advice/tips/pointers?

Thanks Francesco.  We'd rather not turn on auditing at this point due to the performance impact, but I'll definitely keep that in mind going forward.
