Unique id to content

Hello,

I would like to give a unique id to every file on alfresco, something that doesn't change even if the content is modified.  Does alfresco provides an id by default, or is there a way to generate it?

Yes, Alfresco provides default ids which are unique and don't change when content are updated.

How can I access it?  Is it the same as e-mail id?
