Creating content from a template file is easy, and you can also create template folders with multiple files and subfolders:

Alfresco 3.3+ has an auditing service that can collect a lot of data that can be used by an external reporting and analytics tool to provide usage statistics. There are a number of add-ons available to use that data.

Alfresco 5.0 introduces a reporting and analytics tool. In Community Edition it only includes a couple of dashlets.
