Hi all,

I your need help to make Alfresco working on Win server 2003.

I need to test Alfresco on a local network with multiple clients, actually we did test it only on a single computer (server + client), but we need it to work on our 2K3 server.
Installation worked without problems, but when I launch Alfresco server, the two MS-DOS windows are openned (one for MySQL & one for Tomcat), but after a half second the window for the Tomcat server is closed, and I can't do anything (there is no any error message).
I tried multiple java versions, I tried to uninstall and install Alfresco again, but nothing helped me.
I've no idea about where to look for an error message, wich .log can I use to debug it ?

EDIT: I stoped all services that may clonflict whith Tomcat (like IIS).

Thanks a lot,
studitechno

I had some problems getting tomcat up and running myself.  Most of the time it is around having the correct paths for JAVA_HOME and JRE_HOME set up.  The paths that I am using are:

JAVA_HOME - C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_u20\
JRE_HOME - C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_u20\jre\

It would only work for me if I set the JRE home to the JRE that is installed with the JDK.  I found that was key in getting mine to work.  Other than that just look in the start-up batch files to make sure everything seems in order as well.

I'v already verify that variable think, but they all were allright Smiley Sad
So I erased 2K3 from the server and installed it again. Works perfectly now Smiley Happy

But I'm still curious about what could have happend…

Hi all,

I'm back with my questions Smiley Happy

I did notice something queer, when I did install Windows server 2K3, I installed Alfresco Enterprise Edition 3.2 to try out Alfresco on a common server, but to devellop a few functions on Alfresco, I installed Alfresco Community Edition and there I am again whith an non-working Alfresco Community Edition 3.3…

What's the deal ? what is the difference between Alfresco Edition and Community that seems to be so important ? If someone has an idea, it will be welcome…

Regards
Studi

Hi,

Has someone an idea about this problem ? Isn't there a specialized Windows server "Alfresco Ingineer" ?  Smiley Happy
