something wrong connecting to mysql

mysql version:4.1.11
jdk version: 1.5.0_04

I have started mysql, and have tried:
mysql -h localhost -u root -p
mysql -h 127.0.0.1 -u root -p

they are both ok.

now when i start tomcat, the console print the following error msg:

I have tried many times, but still the error appears. and when I type:
http://localhost/web-client
tomcat says that the resource does not existï¼?

when u r going to run the alfresco first time first double click the db_setup.bat file which will be available in the alfresco folder


then run alf_start_tc.bat

may be every thing will be ok.

password is 123456(I have changed relative terms in repository.properties)

and i have typed the following line:

i have enabled the firewall which windows itself brings

You have a couple of errors during startup due to missing files.

In the "bin" directory of the distribution, you'll find two files, an executable and a DLL, these must both be on the system path i.e. c:\windows\system32 or your JRE's bin directory.

This should remove the ERROR messages you are seeing and allow all the bootstrap data to be loaded.

If the latter is true, you will also need to drop the mysql jdbc connector jar into the tomcat common lib folder.

Have there been any other modifications made to the configuration files?  If so, it might be worth zipping the entire config folder up and sending them to me: Derek dot Hulley at Alfresco dot org.  Include a description of any other changes that you may have made, if relevant.

I compile alfrsco from source code, using ant   build_tomcat to build and deploy.

I have changed build.xml besides repository.xml. 
I changed mysql-connector-* to mysql-connector-java-3.1.10-bin-g.jar in build.xml.

once more, I have replaced the original mysql driver from 3rd-party/lib with mysql-connector-java-3.1.10-bin-g.jar.
