Search problem with pontuaction

Hi,

I have came with a serious problem

I realized that alfresco can´t search terms with pontuation.

For exemple:

I want alfresco to recovery a document which the title is:

MULTICERT_EM.GI_18_0001_pt.ppt

I know the document is there, but alfresco can not find it

I tried to take out pontuation, and then, it could find my document.

Is there any way to overcame this problem…i really need to search for documents with ponctuation

I have reproduced this and you are correct, the search in the Manage Deleted Items UI does have support for "phrase" searching which is required for the punctuation issue. At the moment, i think you will have to list ALL deleted items and walk through the list to find the item - remember that you can reduce the list by filtering by the user who deleted the item and by date.

I think I was misunderstood…sorry for my bad english I ment retrive, not recovery

Alfresco can not performe search with pontuaction even in regular search, not only when you are searching in managing deleted items.


I really needed it to performe search with ponctuation like "." or "_".

Is there anyway to achive this?

Yes it can, but you need to wrap the search in a phrase quote "MULTICERT_EM.GI_18_0001_pt.ppt" like that.

I created a new document called MULTICERT_EM.GI_18_0001_pt.ppt and entered this (including the quotes) into the simple search box:

"MULTICERT_EM.GI_18_0001_pt.ppt"

the document was found ok. By default Alfresco tokenizes words on punctuation so the above filename is converted to:
MULTICERT EM GI 18 0001 pt ppt
for the purposes of searching, you should be able to simply search for:

MULTICERT

and that will bring back the document in the results - it worked for me!
