Running Alfresco 1.4 Community directly on domain

Hi all,

Does anyone know if I can run Alfresco directly on a domain so that it can be accessed by the following format:

http//www.myalfresco.com/

thereby by-passing the need for:

http://www.myalfresco.com:8080/alfresco

Any idea? I haven't a clue where to configure what in order to achieve this and if its at all possible in the Community version.

Regards,
Charles Mathieu

I can point in a direction, but I have not tried this. The tomcat administration book I have recommends five steps:

1. Install Apache
2. Install mod_jk.so for apache
3. Create worker.properties for tomcat (skipping the specifics)
4. Edit httpd.conf for apache (skipping the specifics )
5. Give it a go

It seems this is a rather complex affair, so hopefully someone will give you an easier method. If you want to follow this path and cant find info through google, post again and I will give you the setup for worker.properties and httpd.conf

You might be willing to run tomcat on port 80. If your interested, you can find some recent information at the following site:

I was wondering if anyone had an update on this issue?  Is there an easier way to setup a system so that Alfresco can simply be accessed by domain (such as http://www.myalfresco.com) instead of having to specify ports and additional trailer folder names (/alfresco).

BTW, I am running Tomcat and httpd on my server.

Thanks!

We use a workaround for this purpose.

In tomcat/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/web.xml, we remark the servlet-mapping.

<!–
    <servlet-mapping>
        <servlet-name>org.apache.jsp.index_jsp</servlet-name>
        <url-pattern>/index.jsp</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>

In tomcat/webapps/ROOT/index.jsp, we redirect user to Alfresco

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; url=/alfresco">
<FONT style="align:center; valign:middle;font: bold 14pt blue">Redirect to XXX KM…</FONT>

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the info. With regards to the index.jsp file, where did you put your code?

Hi! Charles,
   My index.jsp only contains a <meta> tag in the following.
It's surely I have changed tomcat port to listen port 80.

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; url=/alfresco">
<FONT style="align:center; valign:middle;font: bold 14pt blue">Redirect to XXX KM…</FONT>
