I have a fresh install of Alfresco share (4.0) and am facing a strange problem. I am unable to upload PDF files bigger than 1 Mb and PPT (powerpoint) files bigger than 4Mb. I can upload small files and other file formats without any problems.
I am not noting anything unusual in the logs.
Is there is default upload size configuration that I am missing? appreciate some troubleshooting suggestions.
The server is running on HTTP with Port 8080. I thought this could be a browser issue so tried using a Webdav client. I could connect successfully using WebDav but the same problem continues.
I fear this is some configuration issue.. Appreciate any suggestions.

Also, this is because of restriction of memory allocated to alfresco process.
So, as such there is not configuration file where you can exactly specify the file size restriction.
But generally on the servers we do the configurations to provide high heap space and memory to alfresco and it will improve the performance.

thanks for the update. I had already found and perused the information in the link provided. But my problem refuses to go away.
As I mentioned previously, I also tried uploading the files using a WebDav client but the problem continues to be the same.
I have another installation of Alfresco (version 3.4) where I dont have any of these problems. Is there anything specific version 4.0?

I am working on an implementation where PPTs to be converted to PDFs. I am having issues with PPTs beyond 4MB size.
I have changed the JAVA_OPTS variable content to hold -Xmx4G -XX:MaxPermSize=512M under setenv.sh. Manually reloaded the Server. No help. Tried to run setenv.sh when the Server is running. No help. Still huge ppts fail to upload and get converted.
What areas should I look at?
I am using 4.2.c Community Edition. Its a LAMP setup on Ubuntu 1204 LTS.
Got 8 GB with Dual Core in the Box.
Any help appreciated.

Edit repository.properties file and change the memory bounds, set them to the max file size that you can expect from the end user and you are done (restart the Server once!).
Thanks,
