Hello,

Can I use the pdfbox-1.0.0.jar with Alfresco 32.r2 ? Has been checked ?

(it's important because pdfbox-0.8.0-incubating.jar gives me problem : http://forums.alfresco.com/en/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=21348&p=83216&hilit=pdfbox#p83216)

Hi,

we have tried this, and the good news is, that it works at least as good as PDFBox 0.8. The bad news that it sometimes runs into an infinite loop, where 0.8 would just have thrown (and silently discarded) an exception

thank Gyro.

Actually, I have in production the PDFBox 0.8, but alfresco is in a infinite loop (CPU 100%).
Having done some tests on tests machine, the pdfbox1.0.0 exit the loop. But I have not try in production. (do know other problems…)

What happen if I try the pdfbox1.0.0, I will see (sometimes) alfreco crash ? What do you recommend me ?

I could also restart alfresco with pdfbox1.0.0, (the loop exit), restart with PDFBox 0.8, but I will do this perhaps every 2 months because the bug could re-appears…

Thanks

Hi,

i also expirience several problems with Alfresco 32r and the pdfbox component.

It leads to that some docs do not get indexed properly. I have read several post that upgrading to pdfbox in a higher version would solve the problems but i can only upgrade to pdfbox 0.8 without having to change alfresco source code due to refactoring of pdfbox packages.

Does anyone have expieriences with it? Is there a plan to upgrade to the higher versions of pdfbox from alfresco side? As far as i have read 1.0 pdfbox is not an option but pdfbox 1.1.0. I have read that someone did the upgrade but not in production mode.

There is also a thread using cli tools in linux as an substitute. Does anyone have exp with it?

So does anyone have some mor information or expiriences? Are there any plans to upgrade pdfbox in a newer version of alfresco? We are using Alf 3.2r CE.

Best Regards,

Robert
