I'm using Alfresco2.1

I'm trying to add other search engines(like described in the wiki)
I've put the following code in the web-scripts-config-custom
<engine label="Alfresco Open Source Talk" proxy="opentalk">
               <url type="application/rss+xml">
                  http://blogs.alfresco.com/opentalk/os-query?s={searchTerms}&itemstart={startIndex?}&itempage={startP...?}
               </url>
            </engine>
          <engine label="Yahoo UK News" proxy="yahooUKNews">
               <url type="application/rss+xml">
                  http://uk.news.search.yahoo.com/news/rss?p={searchTerms}
               </url>
            </engine>

            <engine label="Yahoo Search" proxy="yahoo">
               <url type="application/rss+xml">
                  http://api.search.yahoo.com/WebSearchService/rss/webSearch.xml?appid=yahoosearchwebrss&query={search...?}
               </url>
            </engine>

I've restart my server and when I browse to alfresco and open the opensearch component, those engines are shown. But when I try to search with those engine it takes really long and than I get en error "object Required"
Can anyone help me?

friendly regards

Nick

I suspect that your Alfresco server can't get to the remote services because of a proxy/firewall issue. You can test this by calling the following urls directly from a browser on the Alfresco server machine.

http://blogs.alfresco.com/opentalk/os-query?s=alfresco

http://api.search.yahoo.com/WebSearchService/rss/webSearch.xml?appid=yahoosearchwebrss&query=alfresc...

Hi Nick,
Your config file works fine for me.
As an aside, be careful when calling the search URLs directly from the browser, the parameters ( {searchTerms}, {count}..etc )need to be replaced with meaningful values and the &amp; should be &
If you remove one of the engines you've configured do they disappear from the list on the web client ?
As Mike has suggested it could be a firewall, or virus checker, or popup checker on the browser ……..?????
Is there anything in the tomcat logs to give a hint

Hi team,
Right now i'm using labs 3.0 stable version. I configured the above code in web-script-config-custom.xml and getting the same "object null exception" any solutions for this. (this is when i try to use in IE 7).

And i want to search through google.com from alfresco (by using its opensearch). I'm facing the problem in this and posted in the forum http://forums.alfresco.com/en/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=18984 .

can anyone help me or provide the sample code for searching through google.com from alfresco using its opensearch.

any solution for object null exception ?
