Online Edit Works - Versioning doesn't

I can edit documents online however when I save the document the version (minor or major) doesn't change. It simply modifies the existing document.
Is this a bug or can it be fixed.

Yesterday we tried editing online and with each save of the document a minor version was created however today it isnt working.

Please advise.

The first step is to ensure that versioning is turned on for the document (which occurs by attaching the "Versionable" aspect).  Unlike some CMSes, versioning is disabled by default in Alfresco, so unless versioning has been manually enabled for the document, or a rule has been configured to automatically enable versioning for all documents added to the parent space, the document is unlikely to have versioning enabled.
