* A system error happened during the operation: Access Denied. The system is currently in read-only mode. "

Am facing this issue while creating space and during documents upload. This has been installed in Solaris 10 with Glassfish v2.1. Alfresco 3.1 has been used. Will it be due to license errors? Am not aware of the edition installed. Kindly help me to resolve this

The most probable reason is that your 30 day trial license has expired.

You should contact your local Alfresco sales representative (or email "sales@alfresco.com" if you haven't been in touch with anyone to date), and ask them about an annual subscription (which includes a non-time limited license).
