New Record Series in RM Deprecated?

I am using alfresco all-in-one maven archetype and added the RM module in the overlay. I successfully build and created the Records Management Site. I also was able to apply the fix regarding some incompatibility with RM 2.0.1-147 in this thread:
https://forums.alfresco.com/comment/129359#comment-129359

But still all I see is the "New Category" button and not the "New Series" button. I checked some translation files (.properties) files in RM and the New Series label is tagged as "DEPRECATED". I also used the sample RM data and there is no Series Folder.

Is the New Series functionality and the Series folder really deprecated? Or is this just one of the incompatibility issue of RM 2.0.1-147 with Alfresco Community 4.2c?

TIA for the explanation.

Yes the Record Series is deprecated. With 2.0 there are multi-level file plans. This means that you only have categories and folders. Categories have been extended and replace the series, they can contain any number of categories and folders. Folders can only contain records. Previously we had only 3 level file plans series, category and folder.

This gives a lot more flexibility, including disposition schedules at multiple different levels of a file plan.
