CIFS - File already exists

Hi, i'm using CIFS to connect from a Win XP pc to an Alfresco 4.2.c on a Linux pc, i've mapped Alfresco as a drive and it's great…
Just a simple question: If i copy a file into a generic site and it is already in that folder, Windows give me the usual popup: "File already exists, do you want to overwrite it?"…
Now i'm NOT interested in versioning but just in maintaining both files…it there a way to put the file in the folder and for example change its name to file-1.txt?

It depends upon your cifs client.   As far as I know windows explorer does not provide an option to rename rather than overwrite.   Other cifs clients like robocopy might have the level of control that you want.

Thank you for the answer, i've tried RichCopy(GUI for RoboCopy) but don't ask me what to do…it simply override the file!
In addition, do you know some windows client in which you could choose the single files and not only the folders?

For those who are interested…Total Commander satisfy all my needs!
