'modified by' is updated without any modification

Hi!

Just after I had browsed around in Share in the document library I saw that several documents had been modified by me around the time I just browsed around. How come the "modified by" and "modified date" attributes get updated even if I don't modify the document? I think this has happened when i have just opened a document via the CIFS interface too. Any way to fix this? Is it fixed in subsequent versions? I'm using 3.0.0 labs.

Hi Mrogers,

I don't have the audit trail function set up yet. I notice that the latest changes of documents in folder or changes to folder will change the parent folder's properties as well. However the modifier is incorrect. Example:   
Folder name: 04.2.3 Oct 2012 Modified Date: 22 October 2012 13:53 Modifier: User A ; will change the parent folder's properties as follows
Folder name: 04.2 QA Sample Modified Date: 22 October 2012 13:53 Modifier: Admin;  where the Modifier is incorrect.

Would this be the reason for the "modified by" is updated without any modification? But the modifier information is wrong. Any feedback on the comment and how to resolve this? Thank you for your feedback.

I am having the same problem too. When uploading large file size, it displays "Modified by…".

Does anybody got any idea?
