'modified by' is updated without any modification

Hi!

Just after I had browsed around in Share in the document library I saw that several documents had been modified by me around the time I just browsed around. How come the "modified by" and "modified date" attributes get updated even if I don't modify the document? I think this has happened when i have just opened a document via the CIFS interface too. Any way to fix this? Is it fixed in subsequent versions? I'm using 3.0.0 labs.

Regards,
Patrik

I've experienced this too, with Alfresco Labs 3 Stable. I don't know if there's a fix or workaround, but since I upgraded to Community 3.2 I haven't seen it occur, so it might be worth a try to upgrade.

I've found that this is happening on 3.3g CE

When I browse a document where the thunbnails have not yet been created in it's folder, all the thunbnails are then automatically created, but all the documents' modified date and modified by is updated to current time and my name.

Hi all,

I've experienced the same problem and I've found the fix to apply : https://issues.alfresco.com/jira/browse/ALF-3991

Unfortunately, I have no clue where the package org.alfresco.repo.thumbnail is located … please help !

I browse http://dev.alfresco.com/resource/docs/java/repository/ but the container file (jar file within Alfresco\tomcat\webapps\share\WEB-INF\lib I think) isn't mentionned … or more simple (for us lol), can we get the corrected file .class or the .jar ?

Thanks !!!

PS: My Alfresco version is 3.3

Hi again !

The problem has been fixed in the last revision of SVN (go and see the post : http://forums.alfresco.com/en/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=29120 ) since 31/08/2010.

According to Alfresco Team, there is no "HOTfix" for the Community version (only in Enterprise 3.3 SP2) … wait and see for the Community version 3.4 !!!

Hi
I'm using a clean install of 3.4a since release and installed 3.4b today, having imported an older 3.2 alfresco dir.root

On both 3.4 versions, if I view a Document Library directory contents, the "Modified on" date is the original date last modified or imported on. When I click on the directory name again (forcing the contents to refresh), all the files "Modifed on" dates are changed to the current date.

The same happens if you go to the document preview.

It seems that if a preview for a document is generated, or some refresh is made to the directory, the 'modified on' date is incorrectly updated.

Please address this urgently. The problem did NOT occur in 3.2.

thank you.
Brian

I think there was a problem with the original fix in that some code paths were still enabling the default auditing behaviour. This will be fixed in the next Community release, 3.4.c

Thanks,
Mike

Hi there!

I am having a similar problem of "modified by" is updated without any modification.

My colleague was browsing the document library in Alfresco Share when she noticed some folders being modified at the time around midnight. Curious, she logged the issue to me (who has role of Admin - only 1 Admin) but I did not do any modification nor was I logged in at the time. Question is : How can the "modified by" and "modified date" attributes get updated even if I don't modify the document? Is there any solution or explanation for this occurrence?

I'm using Alfresco Community version 4.0. Thank you for your feedback.  Smiley Very Happy

Sounds like something like a workflow or job.   The midnight time is suspicious.    Is there any audit history to see what has changed?

I have noticed this too, although it happens a few minutes after a change has been made.
I can create a space and a few minutes later it has been modified by an admin user.  The admin user whose name is appearing (although I too am one) has advised me that they ahve no special jobs running.
