Hello,
We set up an Alfresco installation on a temporary server to give it a try, and decided to move forward with it. However that requires moving it to a new permanent location.
The documentation for exporting/importing the database contents seems to be a little vague and we never had much success.
Can anyone point me towards a more detailed process in how to achieve these steps?
We are using the pre-set installation choices of Alfresco, so we will be using the PostgreSQL database. Using this installer alfresco-community-5.0.d-installer-win-x64
The end goal would be to obviously have a new Alfresco site up and running that is exact copy of the previous site. As well as be able to backup the database regularly, in case of emergency restore.
Thanks!

Assuming you installed alfresco using all the defaults this should work:-
Install the same version of Alfresco on your new box accepting all the default and using samne UID / PWD etc
Stop Alfresco on your temp box (alfresco.bat stop)
Backup alf_data on your temp box
Stop Alfresco on your new box (alfresco.bat stop)
Rename alf_data on your new box to something else (just in case)
Restore alf_data to your new box
Restart your new box.
You should have your Alfresco moved. I have never done this on 5.0 but I expect it should work just as well.
If you have made any config changes through alfresco-global.properties you will need to copy these over as well, but there are (sometimes) key pointers in that file so I suggest cut & paste rather than file replace
