Metadata fields with dependency

I think this is a common problem, so sorry if it has already been discussed. Can you in this case point me to the right subject ?

So i try to make 2 fields in document metadata that have dependency between them. For instance : a list of countries and a second list of regions which is dependant of the value of the first list. When i choose USA, the second list must be refreshed with the list of regions of USA. If i change the main list by UK, then the second list is refreshed with the regions of UK

We don't support dependent properties out of the box I'm afraid.

May be possible do it if we get metadata´s values from BBDD instead of XML file configuration?

We are trying to do the same here!. We are using Alfresco 3.0 CE. I think I saw it somewhere that this is possible but not sure. Did any of you got this issue solved?
