making activit to use my applications's user and roles table

Hi all,
       We are developing an application called pdms, here we are planning to use activiti framework to develope our workflows,
       we already have tables users and roles , we want activiti to refer our applications users and roles table. how to do it ?

I'd start by searching the forum for similar questions. Something like identityservice/session will come up… post followup questions in the user forum
