Make multiple discussions, each with different permissions

Is it possible to make a site discussion topic, one topic only accessible to Group A, another to Group B?

I've made a topic only accessible to Group A by managing the 'discussion' folder. But when I add a new topic, no new 'discussion' folder is created…

My current solution is for Group A to make a new site and Group B another site.

Hello,

you should be able to restrict individual topics via "manage permissions" on the individual objects beneath the discussions folder. Each item there represents one topic thread.
