Logging in to alfresco from external application

Hi all,

Is it possible to login to alfresco from external application, e.g. php application?
The thing is we have a php application and we're thinking of implementing single sign on, therefore once the user logged in to our application, he doesn't need to login to alfresco to access alfresco.

Did anyone ever answer your question…..our group is interested in the same thing.  I was hoping that someone would answer this question with a high-level, generic step by step.

Unfortunately no one answers.

At the moment, I'm turning it the other way around. Users logging in through alfresco and accessing the php application from a custom dashlet (also passing the username & other parameters)
