Log Files

I searched in the internet for information about the log files. I don't know what log file contains any error messages. I need this Information for my instructor!

Your log file is alfresco.log, located in the root directory of your installation, i.e. on Windows, C:\Alfresco\alfresco.log

All errors related to the alfresco repository is logged in this file.

There is also the tomcat/logs/catalina.out which in addition to alfresco exceptions and information, also logs tomcat exceptions and information.

It is also possible to override what gets logged and where in the log4j.properties file. To make customizations to this, copy the tomcat/webapps/alfresco/WEB-INF/classes/log4j.properties to tomcat/shared/classes/alfresco/extension/dev-log4j.properties and make your changes there and restart Alfresco.
