JRockit running Alfresco - does it work well?

Alfresco support staff have told me that they cannot support Alfresco running in-process within a JRockit JVM. I don't know whether their concern is well-founded.

Has anyone used Alfresco on JRockit? If so, please tell me a little about your hardware and software configuration and the results you saw. Did you have any problems that might have been caused by JRockit?

Thanks for any responses. Smiley Happy

I tried Alfresco 1.4 on BEA+JRockit last year I think. It started ok and ran ok but was (suprisingly?) slower than SunJDK5…

Thanks,

Kevin

Interesting. Was it slower in a particular benchmark doing a specific task, or did it just feel more sluggish in general?

I'm looking to use Alfresco 2.0.1 to serve up pure-text content to a public web site (although not necessarily using WCM). Has anyone used 2.0 or 2.0.1 with JRockit?

I used a standard set of "Read" style web-client tests we use here to measure client performance. They use JMeter to test the perfomance of rendering web-client pages for several users on multiple threads. So it tests the entire stack for basic browsing and navigating tasks but does not create any new objects - it certainly hits the repository caches a lot. I don't have the figures here but it was slower in the test than SunJDK5 that much i remember Smiley Happy

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi

sorry for resurecting this topic…

2 years have past since this topic was open, and I'm wondering what are the current statistics on JRockit running alfresco
right now Sun's Java HotSpot needs a continuous memory space in order to operate and this is not a good thing, and I'm considering JRockit that will allow me to use all the memory I need for JVM

Regards…
