I downloaded and installed the Records Management per the instructions. Restarted the server, and do not see the Records Management dashlet. Any help would be appreciated. Is there a log file I can look at? Latest edition of Alfresco Community.

Thanks

Got it to work by using -force, even though DOC says you do not have to.

Can now add Records Management Dashlet, but when I select "upload content", I get the RM navigation on the left side of screen, but the middle of screen is empty. Nowhere to upload content. Anyone have an answer?

thanks

I have a perhaps similar issue, when i go to the file plan link i only see the transfer and hold but I dont have an option to create my own heirarchy or series as some tutorials on alfresco101 utube channel has. How do i make a file plan ? that's the main question because w/o it I cannot use the features of RM and not even documentation or tutorials have info on this they just say create a file plan and that's it 😕  assistance is really appreciated.

P.S saw the wiki and tried to follow the create a fileplan v2.0 in this link http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Records_Management_User_Guide#Records_Folders

Creating a File Plan v 2.0

The way to create a file plan has changed from v 2.0

To create a file plan follow these steps:

    Click the Create menu
    Select "Advanced Space Wizard"
Select "From scratch" and press "Next"
Select the "File Plan" space option and press "Next"
Fill in the name, title and description of the file plan using a name and description that helps navigation between many file plans
Select "Next" then "Finish" to create the file plan
On the new file plan, choose "View Details"
Click the "Edit" button on the Properties
Enter the metadata according to the requirements of the file plan
Click "OK" and the file plan is ready to process records
Thing is the Select the File plan space option does not appear on the advanced wizard

so still on square 1

That's the exact same problem I am having. I can do the same things you are referring to. I am thinking about doing a complete reinstall of Alfresco and Records Management, using the -force option in RM, unless someone knows an easy way to get around this problem.

In case it's not clear, the Records Management module is for the Share web interface only, NOT the Explorer interface.

Thanks,
Mike

I am attempting to run it under /share. Looks like other people have had the same problem. Are there specific files that need to be deleted, or would it be easier to reinstall Alfresco and RM?

Dear Mike H so its share only for RM? then they should modify that entry on the wiki since those steps are on the alfresco wiki and can be misleading to noob users like me. Still haven't found a way to start a file plan and hence no RM since w/o a file plan, you cannot begin to store records. Ive uninstalled and re-installed the module and no avail sadly. Since I can't start a file plan  via /share 's GUI on the RM site. is there a way to force one via code? like an XML file since GUI actions turn to XML entries on alfresco most of the time. Assistance is very appreciated.

Edit*
Forgot to add the version of alfresco and RM my bad

alfresco community-4.2.c  and rm-2.0.1-147

Dear all,

I have the same Problems you describe. Installing Alfresco 4.2c + RM 2.0.1-147 worked pretty well.

I can add the RM Dashlet to my Dashboard and create the RM Site and import Test Data.

The Test Data are there. If you are in the RM Site and search, you can find it.

I guess there is just a Problem to display that files, maybe caused by the RM.amp files, becuase other Document Libarys in other sites works fine.

It would be great, if anybody could give me an advice.

Thanks in Advance.

Kind Regards

Opnek

Ive uninstalled ver 4.2.c and installed an much older version of alfresco ver 3.4.d  and the record management works there. What ive realized is that the navigation   tab is empty in 4.2.c ( where the main fileplan folder should be)
and probably why nothing can be done. when i installed the rm-2.0.1-147. amp and the share version in their respective amps and amps_share folders and ran the apply_amps.sh  with the – nobackup and –force parameters. I hope this helps asset the situation  because  my current last resort idea is to start upgrading from 3.4.d to 4.2.c and see if can get the record management working this way since it does have the fileplan defined ( that's how desperate I am ) so i can then tackle the task of  defining aspects for custom record types.

again the issue occurs on alfresco 4.2.c installed on a CentOS 6.3 server  and RM is ver 2.0.1-147

as soon as i can i will show some images to illustrate how the alfresco RM site file plan is looking on 4.2.c and 3.4.d version for contrast
