Hi,

I have around 2 millions documents in my alfresco and the index is ON, i want to know if i turn off my index option and restart the alfresco server,
what & how actually alfresco server respond to this change and approximately how much time it'll take to clear the index of 2m documents.

and from where i can monitor this impact? (i.e whats going on in the back-end)

You can do this on 4.0 but not 3.3.

3.3 will re-index before it starts.

Thanks for your response.

So approx. how long will it take to re-index 2m files. ? and can i view the status of that process (any logs etc?)

By the way, i have alfresco 3.2

Can't answer since it depends upon what type of files, what models you have and the speed of your system.     But probably a long time.    One trick is to re-index a copy of your system and then copy that index to your live system.

What do you mean by  "i turn off my index option" and why do you want to do that?

Actually,  i have around 2m PDF files in alfresco and i want to keep those PDF files and starting uploading new bunch of PDF files,(in millions)
to boost up the uploading, i want to switch OFF indexing which is currently ON, so just thinking that if i switch OFF index, what will happen with my existing 2m pdf files?
so i was just curious that how much time a server will take to start-up again if remove index having those 2m PDF files in repository…

I have 4core system with 16GB RAM.
