http status 404 /alfresco/

After installation, I was able to start alfresco and page loaded. I added one user and restarted alfresco. I also enabled OpenOffice as explained in README. Now I get this error message when I try to load the site:

description The requested resource (/alfresco/) is not available.‍‍‍‍‍

I changed back from OpenOffice, still get the same error. I believe this is not OpenOffice issue or whatever. Any ideas. Here is my log file below:

Looks like Alfresco didn't shut down properly before you tried to restart it.

Make sure the java process has gone before trying the restart.

Would you be able to clarify a bit what you mean by "making sure the java process has gone"?

I'm having a similiar problem. The first time I didn't shutdown Alfresco correctly. I did get Alfresco back up and running, then did a restart (using CLI) - and now I get the 404 error.

Mac OS X 10.4 - Java 1.5

I can see the 'java' process running…but still get the same error. If I kill the java process, then the browser returns a local error (browser built-in "cannot find page") - however, the tomcat homepage still functions.

From a Terminal prompt, do

ps -A‍

Look for any java processes along the lines of:

2906 ttys000    1:28.01 /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Home/bin/java -Xms128m -Xmx512m -Djava.util…‍

Make a note of the process id 2906 and kill it using

kill -9 2906‍

Note that is a "forced" shutdown and therefore a last resort where a reboot isn't practical or desirable.

Any persistent "404" errors on /alfresco/ need further investigation by looking into the log files.
