how to create rules via web services

I have two problems -

1)  when i create a rule to send email by using a composite rule, i get a premature end of file error on the saveRules method call. i saw another thread about this - has this/will this be resolved?

2) when i try to just make a 'non-composite' rule, i can see it in the list of rules in the alfresco client (obviously i cant click on it)  but when i then try to trigger the rule (in this case by uploading a file)  i get this error on the upload page:

Please correct the errors below then click OK.
A system error happened during the operation: Unknown Exception in Transaction.

has anyone successfully created a rule through the web service that allows a mail to correctly sent after uploading a file?

I am currently trying to create a rule but I always got a NULL EXCEPTION when trying to save the rule.

Did anyone knows something about it?

By the way, I am doing it by using web services.
