How to create external DMS( in JSP) with alfresco services

Requirements are as follows :

1. Interactive user interface with folder drilldown, folders and files will be populated from alfresco.
2. File upload and download in my external web application.
3. Document viewer
4. Role based access

I'd recommend you have a look at CMIS:

It should cover your needs and is the standard way to do so.
You can use Apache chemistry to use it from your external Java application:
