how to add custom properties in alfresco

Dear All,

While adding conetent in the UI we will see some default properties,

Now I want add some more properties, like FirstName,EmailID,Ph no,
address etc. . How to add these properties.

Is the procedure to add the new attributes to the user profile same for the Alfresco 5.0.1 version as well ??
