I don't have much experience with DMS, but on average windows server 2008, 3GB RAM, dual core intel, how will Alfresco act with more than 10 mil records. How fast the search will be ?
That rather depends upon your search query 😎 Also very significant will be the number of concurrent users and what they are doing.
The default single box install of alfresco is really tuned for "demo" purposes but by those sorts of volumes you should probably be tuning your instance of alfresco and your single box sounds undersized. Alfresco does work in very large organisations with lots of heavy users.
First tip will probably be "buy more RAM", 3GB is not a lot for a server these days. Second tip will probably be make sure your database is running well. Third tip is to keep your lucene index on a fast local drive.
