generating documents

Helo,
I'm new to Alfresco and i'd like to ask some questions.

1. is it possible to create/generate documents on basis of XML data from application and stored templates in Alfresco system?
2. Can Alfresco generate documents or it's only storage for documents?
3. If Alfresco can generate documents, can it generate documents from document templates (xml, rtf, …)?

Yes to all.

Although alfresco is primairily a content management system there are lots of tools included that can generate and transform files.
