Files are uploaded in contentStore (alf_data folder) in your fileSystem.
Metadata (name of your file for example) are stored in your database.

At first ,thank you very much for you quick reply.
if thing are like you says, there is another obstacles in front of me.if I want download a file ,How can I get the the Alfresco install directory ? Before we access the ContentStore(alf_data fileSystem) ,we should get the Alfresco install directory. and How can I get the install directory ?
By window regedit ?but there is some permissions to operate the regedit. or we can obtain it by the other ways ?I'll always waiting for your answers online!
through the answer you replied me ,I find the suffix of fileNames that stored in the contentStore are end with 'bin' ,and the FileName are different from the origin name of the file ,I doubt that after I upload a file ,whether there is necessary or not to transfer the filename format?
by what means? only i get the content url can i download the file ,thks.
