Hello there,
I am currently looking at Alfresco as a potential collaboration tool for an organization at my university. I am really impressed by it and prospects look good. However, I wanted to know if Alfresco is capable of exposing the filesystem, or a folder in the server, across its Share interface. Our org. already has pre-existing files that I would love to migrate to Alfresco, but without having to upload them – I want to keep it's current structure intact. File size is also an issue; I would dread having to upload enormous files, through the web, to a database, just to use Alfresco's pops and whistles.
I am relatively new to Alfresco as well, so I am not completely sure what's it capable of – hence the question. I've tried looking around the Internet, but have found that the repository is completely integrated in Alfresco and has no filesystem base. I am practically lost on what to do next.
Is there a way to accomplish this functionality in Alfresco? The ultimate goal here is it to make Alfresco expose our data sets through both its Share Interface as well as through its CIFS protocol.
Thanks in Advance!
