Suppose I purchase an subscription to Alfresco Enterprise … what would happen if I don't renew the subscription? I read another topic in this forum that for the Enterprise trial version, the repository would become read-only. Is this the same case for subscription?

I am aware that for subscription-based licensing models like RedHat's, one just loses support. Is it a different case for Alfresco?

Thanks

When you install a trial version of Enterprise, it starts a 30 day countdown by default until you apply a full license.  A proper license is provided as part of a subscription and remains in force even after your subscription expires.  If no new license is ever applied, that's when the repository will revert to a read-only mode (i.e. after the 30 day trial period expires).

Hi —

Does that if you terminate the Subscription Agreement, you cannot continue using the Alfresco Enterprise version?

[We currently have the Alfresco Enterprise version, but are not interested in any of the support / upgrades/ New service packs etc.]

Thanks

it's true there is a major problem with the subscription or pricing model

You could imagine taking a one-year contract every two, three ( or even more ) years.

In the period that you are coverred by a contract you can upgrade and you're not spending every year a fortune

The Enterprise version would continue to work with your license file as long you don't upgrade

As per information that i got from alfresco staff (date december 2014) If we dont continue the Alfresco EE subscription, then we could only have read only mode Alfresco, we can NOT write/upload document into Alfresco.

hope this helps for other person that looking for information about Alfresco EE license.
