Error stopping alfresco server - labs3

Hi,

I installed alfresco labs3 on windows vista SP1. It seems to start, I can connect to the webclient but when I want to stop the alfresco server I get a lot of errors and the console doesn't close. I try first with the full setup (http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Alfresco_Labs_3), typical install with derby db. Trying to correct the errors, I uninstall alfresco then download another version from http://dev.alfresco.com/downloads/nightly/dist/ (the last one 01/10/08) and install it with the same options. I get the same problems. I also try on a windows xp system and it works fine.

Here, I can  work with alfresco, create a space, a content, … No problems

I dont get the exceptions, but when I start & stop the windows+derby install more than once or if I switch to Hibernate for a while (I reboot my system usually 1-2 a week, tops), I cannot connect to alfresco anymore as well. My trick :

Go into the alfresco dir and start "apply_amps.bat". After that, my systems work again.

Sidenote : it seems to relate to derby, since my derby log stays quiet on the failing restarts.

If you can confirm this, a ticket in issues.alfresco.com would be the thing to do, I guess

Hello, first of all, thanks a lot for your help.

Here is a summary of the problem :
1. install alfresco labs 3b on windows vista
2. start alfresco server (1st log) –> it works fine
3. stop alfresco server –> errors (2nd log) –> impossible to close the console
4. after that, it's impossible to start the server again.

So, I stop windows, uninstall alfresco, download another release, re-install it and I get exactly the same problem. Once I stop the server, I got errors, can not rightly close the console and then, can not work with alfresco anymore.

Hello Belmekki,

I install MySQL 5.0.67 and the associated database connector "mysql-connector-java-5.0.8-bin.jar" and it works better.  For information, the database connector "mysql-connector-java-5.1.6-bin.jar" witch is packed in the full  setup didn't work.

I still have an error when stopping alfresco (cfr this other post : http://forums.alfresco.com/en/viewtopic.php?f=8&p=48857#p48857) but it doesn't seem to be serious because Alfresco start after all.

If you want some logs or other informations, just let me know.

I tired, keeping the file configurations (alfresco.bat, alf_stop.bat, public-services-context.xml) exactly same as you have mentioned here and “I am sure that this is not working in windows XP” but “I am not sure about the same on Vista with sp1”. Still server needs to be stopped manually! After which it does not allows to execute program or restart server unless one cleans alf_data directory and recreates DB after dropping.

I removed the "solved" because I still have a lot of problems, even with the MySQL DB. I succeeded in testing labs3b for some days. But after some tests, it didn't stop again. I don't know what I did wrong ? I tried to delete "alf_data" directory and recreate the db but now I still have a lot of errors. I think I will wait for a more stable version. I just wanted to test dynamics models and it's done. So I will stop testing labs3 for that moment.
