We've always had lots of trouble trying to reach out to websites via automation tools like Maven, Ant, Eclipse's installer, etc due to our company's proxy settings.

I remembered that in the jBPM 4.4 project, there was a way to install the jBPM Eclipse graphical editor plugins from an archived file (install/src/gpd/jbpm-gpd-site.zip) that was part of the manually download-able distribution (see http://docs.jboss.com/jbpm/v4/userguide/html_single/#graphicalprocessdesigner )

I don't suppose there's a similar set up for the Activiti's Eclipse graphical editor plug-ins? … for us poor folk who labor behind proxies Smiley Happy  ? The user guide just mentions the "use Eclipse installer" method and I couldn't find an good lead in the forums.

Thanks!

Hi,

Okay I understand the problem. It should not be hard to also provide an archived download for the Designer.
I'll look into this and provide an update in this post topic.

Thanks!  Smiley Very Happy

By the way, if anyone is interested, I am currently using a workaround … I downloaded the plugin on an internet kiosk in the office (which happens to be inside our office but outside our network) and just copied-and-overwrote the Plugins folder from the kiosk onto my workstation. Broke all my other plugins but at least the Activiti Designer works  Smiley Wink

Ran into a minor issue trying to install the latest Activiti Eclipse Designer (8.0) from zip

I downloaded
  http://www.activiti.org/designer/archived/activiti-designer-0.8.0.zip
and tried to install the Eclipse Designer as from Archived site … but eclipse threw the "Jar file could not be found" error

The other versions' zip files (6.0 and 7.0) had worked fine, so I opened up the 8.0 zip and found that all the content were in a "Site" subfolder. In comparison, the 6.0 and 7.0 had its content directly in the zip. Upon re-zipping the content so that the subfolder was eliminated, the Archived site worked fine …

Can the source   activiti-designer-0.8.0.zip   be fixed?

Thanks!

Hm, maybe try uninstalling, then reinstalling the Activiti Designer plugin via the "What is already installed" dialog? And sometimes I've run into other plugins that didn't install correctly or wouldn't uninstall … so I ended up just deleting helios off my machine completely and just start over with a brand new eclipse install. (first made sure my workspaces were backed up of course)
