Desktop Sync and Linux

I have downloaded the Desktop Sync for alfresco onto windows 7 machine and trying to get the program to work on Linux (Centos 6.4) I have read the blog from…
http://www.zaizi.com/blog/alfresco-desktop-sync

I know that it was written over a year ago and I'm wondering if they now have Linux support. I'm using Alfresco 4.2.c and when I put in the credentials I can see my test site and a sub folder that I have created. When uploading a via UI it does not sync with the application on the windows 7 machine. I tried doing it the other way and adding a text file in the C:/user/alfresco/[shared folder] and it doesn't show up on the site via UI.

So my question….has there been any changes for offering Linux support? If so, where do I go on fixing this issue? If not, any time frame as to when it might be a possibility?

Thanks and happy 4th!!

Hi,
According to http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Community_file_list_4.2.c it seems that only Windows and Mac are supported.
Take a look to the JIRA site in order to find out what's going on https://issues.alfresco.com/jira/browse/DSYNC

Regards,
Andrea

That Jira issue is not available to logged in users neither. I'm pretty interested on it too.

That project (DSYNC) is obsolete and no longer updated.

Sorry to be vague but Desktop Sync issues are elsewhere.

Thanks for letting us know about that 😞

Hi ESWBitto,

If you need to sync Alfresco content to your Linux PC, I suggest using CmisSync.
CmisSync runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, Raspberry Pi, and there are plans for mobile as well.

There is a .deb package for Debian/Ubuntu/derivates. Depending on your set up you might have to compile it yourself, which is easy if you can use the Linux terminal a bit. Also, a large computer company is using it on SUSE Linux.

Happy syncing!
