Custom Search Fields

I have read some of the docs now, and I still don't see much on Custom Search Fields.  Can anyone point me towards literature that will explain fully:

1. How to establish a List of custom search/index fields that will be collected for all of a certain document type?

2. How to establish a pre-configured search screen that has all those fields, so someone doesn't have to set that up every time via some special Advanced Search function?

Thanks.

Hi

All properties are indexed according to the settings in the data dictionary.

By default, i.e. when you specify no indexing behaviour in the DD, then all properties are indexed atomically; content may be indexed in the background if the transformation is expected to take a bit of time.

That's not really what I asked.

There's really very little written on
- Custom Search Fields
- Pre-canning a Custom Search, so that those Search fields appear on a dialog, with the user having to set that up every time they want to do a search.

Can anyone point me towards an article explaining All the Custom Search abilities of this product?  It's absolutely critical to our evaluation and use.

Much appreciated.

Alfresco supports Saved Searches (public for all users and private per user) and custom attribute searching:

Thank you.  I'm reading that now.

I gotta say I'm hurting a little with the docs.  What is there is great.  But, it's very basic.  What I'm asking about is not something I'd call anywhere near Advanced.

Either I haven't found all the docs, or I'm feeling I need a whole lot more.

I haven't found a doc that takes me from the basic tutorial steps to a User's Guide that will absolutely, positively tell me about all functionality of the product.

I feel strongly that there's a Ton of function under the Alfresco covers, but I'm having trouble seeing what's under there.

I support that. Documentation is far behind the functionality provided. I am sure Alfresco would be flying high would there be more docu, however, that may jeopardise their business model 😉
