custom Dashboard save issue

So, I keep receiving the following error intermittently for different users and sites.  Here is an example of the error for a site dashboard.  It is slightly different for a user.  When this happens, the default dashboard is loaded.  when you go into custom settings, your custom settings are still there but will not render as a custom dashboard only a default.  If you go in at another time, you can easily create a custom dashboard with no troubles

the error may be missed typed i cant copy and past from that console easily

I am at a loss

My setup right now is Win2k3 behind a proxy using labs 3c full install

I think this is also causing my AVM_Child_entries table to balloon

The Child IDs look proper but the parent IDs look a little wonked out showing multiple users editing them

EG, for the parent ID, the creater owner and modifier could be different users or, all three feilds could not match the username for the specified dashboard above.

I am at a loss and thinking of dumping everything in

avm_history_links
avm_child_entries
avm_nodes

In that order with either a parent ID or a Child_Id in the child entries table

Any ideas anyone?
Anything other things i should think about (aside from backups)?

I will echo ofrxnz with actual screen capture data.  Similar scenario, if the user customizes their dashboard, I start seeing these error's in the logs.  The presentation of the dashboard "appears" to stutter a tiny bit while loading, but does load.

Exact same errors i had aside different user specific aspects. 

Preliminary, it seems to happen when a user times out of a session.  But I have yet to confirm this as a positive reason or the sole cause.

I'm also getting this error in the error log, but there's no problem on the user side - the user can see their custom dashboard as expected. (Alfresco 3.0 on linux) This error is generated for a user updating his/her own dashboard layout, but not for a user updating a site's dashboard layout.

HTTP response "409" means that there's a state conflict for the resource, so at least in my case I'm wondering if it's that Alfresco is trying to update the same file twice, or something like that.

I'm also not able to find much documentation on what's happening here when it's working - I have a dim notion that this has something to do with AVM, but that's about it. So if anyone else in this thread happens to have a handy link…

I keep looking into this one and it seem like it happens when a user times out.  My guess is it has to do with the tickets that fly around though i dont know how they work. 

I think (guess) that a user has a ticket, times out but doesn't close a browser, log's back in and gets a new ticket.  I would guess this could cause a state issue. 

The dashboards are stored in the AVM.  Each slot on the dashboard (row 1, column 1) or (row 2, column 1) are stored as an individual file in the file store and their metadata is in the AVM store.  I personally dont like how it does the dashboards since it is something that should not version.  I would guess it would be simpler if it was just another table in the db that stored all the dashboard configuration data. 

I have seen it for the Site dashboards but it is a rare event compared to the user dashboards.  error message is about the same

I meant to mention yesterday, but apparently I forgot, that in my testing, it doesn't seem to be a time-out issue at all. I can generate the error immediately after logging in.

(Edited to add - and I've also confirmed that clearing the browser's cache and restarting the browser before logging back in doesn't help. HOWEVER, restarting Alfresco seems to eliminate the problem for a while.)

I just hit the same issue and wanted to ask you guys, did you install the WCM component? I tried running Share without installing WCM but just realized that the custom dashlets and user preferences are stored in the AVM store.

So, I'm about to install WCM and see if that fixes my problem. I'll come back and edit once I finish.

On first glance, the errors seem to have subsided. I have a lot more testing to do though and will try to get back to this thread to update.
