Hello,

I was wondering if there is a way to add new fields to the Content Properties. Maybe I am going about this the wrong way, but I am trying to have it so there are multiply ways to search for any given .pdf file. I am hoping there is a way to add new fields to the properties page of the given .pdf.

Any help on how to go about doing this, or a better system would be appreciated. Currenty I have just been putting a lot of information into the description field, but it is conjested and not the best system.

Thanks.

Thanks for the great articles. The only thing about them is that they look like a lot of work. Alfresco is the only reason I even know of XML's existence, and that happened maybe two months ago. I am not nearly competent enough in it to confidently make changes or write new files.

Basically, all I need to do is go in and change it so that instead of saying things like, "Description", "Author", or anything else like that to things like, "First Name", "Last Name", and such.

If I need to go ahead and follow those articles then I guess I will be getting more familar with XML, which pry isn't a bad thing I am learning, but if there is a quicker fix to my problem that would be appreciated. I would absolutely love anyone that could point me to a file, xml or not, where I could simply change the display name given to the properties of content. Like I said, I just need to alter the names at this point. I would like to get into the more detailed stuff, making new content models and such, but right now, that isn't pertinent to the job I am trying to accomplish. As always, thanks in advance for any help, and thanks for those articles. They are very interesting, but I think they are a little over my head at the moment.

hi,
unfortunatelly Im almost in the same position as you are.. only inexperienced user.. trying frist alfresco instalation with a help of one external administrator Smiley Sad

But I think this is what you are looking for
http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Data_Dictionary_Guide#Attaching_Model_Behaviour

but not recommended

I think you should rather look closelly at custom "Aspects" which should handle your requirements.

Hope it helps

Daniel
