Collaboration with other software

I,m currently looking at the possibilities of Alfresco to interact with other systems, E.g.with SAP, with own written software(uniface),…
If it's possible to do this, how much work this will take,…

This also means interacting with other filesystems, databases(metadata), and so much other things.

What are the possibilities to link from other systems to alfresco. E.G.  step p of procces A will be executed in SAP, step 2 in Alfresco. So how to deal with this.

My question, what do you think? is it possible? Have you experience with something similar, with collaboration?

Any response would be appreciated.

Friendly regards,
Nick

Hi,
normally, that kind of integration would be done these days via web services. Alfresco has a complete web service API, and you can call web services from Alfresco. Towards SAP, you you can use it XI infrastructure, that exposes SAP funcionality as web services as well. To integrate the processes at a higher level, you can use a BPEL engine like the one included in JBOSS jBPM. There are other products to make this integration, as long as you have standard interfaces to the components you are integrating.

Ronny.
