Hello together,

I just viewed the slides from Richard Im about making JLAN talk CMIS:
http://de.slideshare.net/alfresco/shared-drives-with-cmis-and-jlan

He showed samples of extending the DeviceContext and DiskDriver classes to work with CMIS.
Is there a real implementation of these classes anywhere?

Hello,

we are also be interested putting a backend connection to JLAN via CMIS. Does anybody know, if the CmisDiskDriver class is available somewhere or did anyone made similar a approach?

Kind regards
Markus

Alfresco itself is a "real example".

Hello Mark,

thanks for your reply. May I just tell you in short about our idea and request a brief rating from you regarding our plan?

We run Alfresco in our data centre and access the repository from our branches via CIFS over WAN. Apart from performance issues we also experience stability issues when handling with large amounts of data (many files in batch processing or even single large files). For this reason we are thinking about running instances of JLAN servers in each single branch providing CIFS in the regading branch via LAN (fast and reliable). On the backend we want to connect these JLAN servers to the Alfresco server in the data centre via CMIS (assuming that the repository connection via CMIS is sufficient reliable since it uses http(s)).

So the backend CMIS connector is the missing link at the moment.

I appreciate, if you could give a quick rating about this plan (decent, laborious, nuts). Do we have to re-implement the (complete) Alfresco way of CIFS (CIFS shuffle etc.)? Can this work in a multi user same file collaboration scenario? Even with sufficient performance?

Any hints are very welcome, thanks in advance.

Kind regards
Markus
