Hi all,

I'm following this guide (http://docs.alfresco.com/4.0/topic/com.alfresco.enterprise.doc/concepts/solr-monitor-troubleshoot.ht...) to reindex/fix SOLR on my new 4.2.a installation.  Step 9 of Reindexing says that I can monitor SOLR through the admin panel at http://localhost:8080/solr/
When I try to access that page I receive this message…

Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to localhost:8443.
SSL peer cannot verify your certificate.
(Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_alert)

Two questions:
Why is it redirecting 8080 to 8443? and
What on earth is that SSL error doing in a stock 4.2.a install?

Thanks!

1.  Alfresco uses HTTPS to connect to the Solr server by default. So when you look into you server.xml file for tomcat you should see something
<Connector port="8080" URIEncoding="UTF-8" protocol="HTTP/1.1"
               connectionTimeout="20000"
               redirectPort="8443" />

And look for the comments above there in xml to understand why its getting redirected to 8443.

2. Refer this page for solving your error - http://docs.alfresco.com/4.0/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.alfresco.enterprise.doc%2Fconcepts%2Fsolr-monito...

Hi,

I think you have to import the client ssl certificate in order to connect the solr admin panel. You find the certificate here alf_data\keystore\browser.p12  If your are using firefox you could import this file choosing the menu > option > encryption > certificate > import (I'm not sure if this is the correct translation in the english version of firefox). If you are ask for a password try "alfresco".

Hi guys and thanks very much for the replies.

For other reasons, I'm have to un/re-install 4.2.a today and migrate my alf_data, backup.dump, and alfresco-global.properties.

It's possible that I'm going to see this error again, so I will try what you guys have suggested and let you know how it goes.

Cheers,
Trevor
