Alfresco health probe for monitoring

Hi all,
I was asked to define a procedure in order to check if an Alfresco installation is up and running.
Could someone tell me if there is a checklist of services, actions, operation to say if an Alfresco system is working correctly?
I mean, it's enough to call the Alfresco's default page from a browser or there is an official way to do this check?

Thanks a lot.
Regards,
Andrea

You can use any one free monitoring tool to do this
    ZenOS
    Nagious
    Zabbix
You can even configure it to send SMS when the service is down
Thanks

Thanks for your reply, but what I meant is: which Alfresco service these tools are going to monitor?
We already have some professional monitoring system, but the real question is what does it have to check?

This above tools or any of your network monitoring tools can be configured for checking the service
For eg
You feel you need to monitor Alfresco, so this tools either can check on the alfreco.pid file or the tomcat service, you have to configure it for your needs
Thanks
