Alfresco downloads very slow

I am hoping someone can help me.

We are running Alfresco 4.2E currently and in the past month or so I have noticed the downloads of documents is very slow. It is not an internet speed issue as I have tested from a Fiber location.

Whether I use the download option or the download as zip option for a folder it is painfully slow and will fail if the file is 30MB or more in size.

Hello,

Could you give more details about your Alfresco server configuration?
- Do you have only one server or a clustered architecture?
- What the JVM OPTIONS used on your server(s) (JAVA_OPTS parameter)?
- What the technical caracteristics of your server(s)? RAM, CPU, …
- Where is your alf_data located ? Same question for your index?

Moreover, could you give us the log files of your server?

Hi thanks very much for your reply.

Please find answers to your questions below:

Only one server running the web application and DB. We are a small company so there shouldn't be a need for more than one server.

For the JAVA_OPTS parameter I have the following settings:
set JAVA_OPTS="-XX:MaxPermSize=1024m -Xms512 -Xmx1024m"
This is set in the file setenv.bat found in the location of C:\Alfresco\tomcat\bin\setenv.bat

OS: Windows 2012 64 bit R2 Standard
RAM: 8GB
CPU: Intel 2.5GHz

alf_data is located C:\Alfresco\alf_data

I am not sure if I have the right location for the index: Index - C:\Alfresco\alf_data\solr\workspace\SpaceStore\index

I have attached the logs.

If I have missed anything out please let me know.

-Xmx looks far too small.

Hi

Thank you very much for your response.

I have adjusted the Xmx to 4 times the original size.

Unfortunately the download speed still seems the same.

Is there anything else that could be causing the slow downloads?

Many thanks
