Alfresco 3.4.d

Hi All,
I've been running Alfresco 3.4.d 32bit for nearly two years without any problem. Yesterday, I tried to build a duplicate system on another virtual machine. I didn't have the original bin file so I downloaded it from the Alfresco site. I installed it exactly the same as I did before using my notes; however, it runs very slow. It takes five minutes to log into share and an equal amount of time to navigate to any page once logged in. Has anyone else had this problem? The only problem that I can think of is the version on the Alfresco site has some issues.

This has me confused so any help will be appreciated.

Regards

You can check the exact version in the startup message in the log file.  Or from the "System Information" in Explorer.   That said unless you were using some sort of pre-release of 3.4.d. they are probably the same version.

You can also install from a copy of your existing war files so they will be identical.

The first post of call with slow performance, especially with running Alfresco in a VM is lack of memory.    I think the "rule of thumb" at the moment is to give the VM a minimum of 4G.   In 3.4 days it was a bit less.   However make sure you give the VM lots of memory.    The thing to check after making sure of memory is that its not swapping out the process too often.

Thank you for your reply.

Memory was the first thing that I checked and I have plenty (more than my original vm). As for copying the original war files, that probably won't work because the real reason I'm doing this is because the original server is having issues. Yesterday, I received an error in Alfresco saving that a template was corrupt then after logging out, I couldn't log back in again. I can login into the Linux server OK but not Alfresco (using either Share or Alfresco Explorer). I would like nothing more than to get the original server running again, but I have not be able to do that. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, but I thought a rebuild would be the easily way until I ran into this problem.

I was hoping to find some way of repairing the original server, but my research has found nothing so far.

Thanks again for your reply.
