We would like to announce that the V1.4 Community Preview release of Alfresco is now available.  This release introduces a number of new features, including:
    - Business Process Managment (jBPM integration)
    - Records Management
    - Audit Trail
    - Open Document Format support
    - More JavaScript actions
    - Much greater performance and stability under high loads
    - My Alfresco Dashboard
    - Virtual Custom Desktop executables
This Preview release is only intended for evaluation and feedback.  There are database schema changes, details are in the release notes.

The open source version is available to download at: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=143373

Release notes for V1.4 can be found in our wiki here: http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Release_1.4

Please see http://www.alfresco.com if you are interested in the Enterprise Network edition.  If you are already a partner or customer, the Enterprise 1.4 Preview will be available in the usual download location.

Thank you again for your continued support,

The Alfresco Team.

IMPORTANT NOTE: It seems to take at least 24 hours for SourceForge to update its mirrors for the downloads to become available!

The XForms+Chiba integration will be part of the WCM preview coming soon - it will not be part of the 1.4 release.

Thanks,

Kevin

With Oracle, table ALF_AUDIT_TABLE seems to have an invalid column name ("DATE").

With PostgreSQL:
09:45:53,303 ERROR [org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoader] Context initialization failed
org.alfresco.error.AlfrescoRuntimeException: Schema validation failed
   at org.alfresco.repo.domain.schema.SchemaBootstrap.onApplicationEvent(SchemaBootstrap.java:198)
   at …
   … 31 more

Hi there - this had me puzzled for a while - if you search through all the error traceback that is thrown while it tries to initialize the postgres schema, you will find a message identifying the tempory file which it was trying to execute - Alfresco creates an SQL batch file, then tries to execute that.  Take a copy of the file and execute it directly from psql - it went through without error for me and then when I repeated the Alfresco startup, it ran successfully…

I was looking at the Roadmap: http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Roadmap that says 1.4 production will be released in September. I was considering installation of 1.4 preview - but if the production will be out by this weekend or early next week, I will wait and directly evaluate production…

Any idea when 1.4 production will be out?

Hi

We will have a Community Release Candidate any day now, followed shortly by the final drop (obviously depending on issues found).  There have been quite a few updates around the workflow functionality, so it's probably worth waiting for the RC1.

Obviously, the Enterprise release is on a different schedule.

Cheers
Paul.

Thanks Paul,

I will then wait until RC1 is out.
