I have attempted the hot deploy solution suggested by gavinc to get Alfresco 1.4.0 to work with Liferay 4.1 and received a message "Your request processed successfully."

My destination director is webapps.

I do not see anything new in webapps, nor do I see new content to add as a portlet in Liferay.  Does this inicate that it didn't actually work? (I assume so)

One difference with the setup gavinc used is that I did not pull the Alfresco code from HEAD, but from the latest stable download of Alfresco - do I need the very latest?

My environment:
Alfresco 1.4.0 from alfresco-community-war-1.4.0.tar.gz
Liferay 4.1.2 Professional Tomcat5 bundle (I used this to install Tomcat)
MySQL 5.0
Centos 4.2 86_64 (Redhat Linux clone)

I would like to help test so the wiki can be updated.
Thanks,
Jim

No, you shouldn't need the latest code, the 1.4 community final release should be ok.

Do you see any errors on the liferay console? You can get the success message yet have errors on the console.

Gavin,
No, I did not see any errors in /tomcat/logs/catalina.out after the initial startup of Liferay.  Is there another log I should be looking at?

I do have one error, that I have mostly ignored up to this point, it occurs during the startup of Liferay (no errors starting Tomcat), it is:

INFO: Server startup in 29241 ms
Loading jar:file:/opt/tomcat/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/lib/portal-ejb.jar!/portal.properties for liferay.com

Loading file:/opt/tomcat/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/classes/portal-ext.properties for liferay.com

15:42:46,785 ERROR [AlfrescoContentUtil:84] java.net.MalformedURLException: no protocol: 192.168.x.xxx/8080/alfresco/192.168.x.xxx/8080/lucene

Loading jar:file:/opt/tomcat/webapps/ROOT/WEB-INF/lib/portal-ejb.jar!/cache-single-vm.properties

I assume this error relates to the standard Alfresco Content Portlet that is included in Liferay 4.1.2.  Should that portlet have been deleted before hotdeploying alfresco.war?
Thanks,
Jim

Hi,

Yes, there is another log file you could look in, there should be an alfresco.log file, probably in the liferay/bin folder.

Yes, the error you see is from the other Alfresco portlet in Liferay, however, i don't see that error in my server, this is all a bit strange!  Apparently this portlet is an experimental integration between Liferay and Alfresco.

Try deleting the existing references to the Alfresco portlet and then try hot deploy again. Are you using the following version "Liferay Portal Professional 4.1.2 (Cowper / Build 3102 / August 31, 2006)" of liferay?

Thanks for your persistence.

Gavin,
Sorry for my delayed response, I was out of town traveling, but will be back for the next month or so, so I should be able to be responsive.

I did find the alfresco.log at …/tomcat/bin/alfresco.log, here are the errors in it:

19:40:32,155 ERROR [org.alfresco.repo.content.transform.magick.AbstractImageMagickContentTransformer] ImageMagickContentTransformer not available: Failed to copy content from input stream:
   writer: ContentAccessor[ contentUrl=store:///opt/tomcat/temp/Alfresco/ImageMagickContentTransformer_init_source_45955.gif, mimetype=null, size=0, encoding=UTF-8]
19:40:38,583 ERROR [org.springframework.web.context.ContextLoader] Context initialization failed

Yes my version of Liferay is: Liferay Portal Professional 4.1.2 (Cowper / Build 3102 / August 31, 2006)

I will attempt to remove the existing alfresco portlet now.
