Advanced Search and custom properties

How does searching work in Alfresco when custom properties are involved? We created custom properties and included it as a criteria in the Advanced Search page. When searching, is the repository searched first using the text specified in the criteria and then further filtered into what is selected for the custom property?

Is there a way to search for content directly using one of the custom properties?

Hi Jett,

I am fairly sure that custom property searches done on the Advanced Search page make use of Lucene indexes to limit scope to the property in question.  For in-depth information on how searches work in Alfresco, take a look at http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Search.
